Founded
by Michael and Florence Kyomya in 1995, the ministry’s objective is to be a
catalyst for spiritual renewal and growth in the Anglican Church of Uganda.
That they may have eternal life; that they may know Him, the only true God,
and Jesus Christ whom He sent – this is our focus. Areas of ministry
include:
- Evangelism in Busoga Province, Uganda, a region with an estimated
population of 2.7 million
- Discipleship and equipping of new believers for ministry
- Establishing and overseeing prayer cells across a region the size of
Delaware and Rhode Island combined
- Strengthening families and encouraging community development through a
women’s program
- Pastoral and leadership training for men and women serving the church
in Uganda
- Use of traditional music, theatre and dance to convey messages about
salvation and life in Christ
Uganda
has the second largest number of Anglicans in the world. Unfortunately, many
in the Anglican Church do not have a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.
Founded in 1995 by Michael and Florence Kyomya, the vision of Hesed
Ministries is to equip and inspire the church in order to bring about change
and renewal within the Anglican Church of Uganda.

In 2002, Michael was selected and ordained as the second Bishop of
Uganda’s Busoga Diocese, the region of focus for Hesed Ministries. Busoga
Province has a population of approximately 2.7 million people, according to
the national census of 2002 and its land size is approximately 4,000 sq.
miles (about same size as Delaware and Rhode Island combined).

Michael and Florence’s role as Bishop has brought an enormous amount of
responsibility. Not only are the spiritual needs great, but the physical
needs of the people are enormous as well. At least 50% of the region’s 2.7
million are members of the Anglican Church. To reach its members, the
office of the bishop oversees more than 1,400 churches and over 1,100
priests. Michael and Florence’s dual ministry reaches out to the region’s
un-churched and followers of other religions such as Islam.
