Florence

Background of Ministry

With a burden for the needs of women in Uganda, Florence Kyomya began a ministry in 1995 called NOWI (Noble Women of Impact).  The goal of this ministry was to empower women in every way – spiritually and economically as well as helping women build self esteem and confidence in a strongly paternalistic society. 

• Florence had grown up a in a polygamous home and she knew, first hand, about the negative effects that polygamy has on children and the disempowering effect that it has on women.  By using Proverbs 31 as the ministry’s vision of what a Godly woman looks like, Florence began her ministry with a small group of women whom she discipled and eventually sent out to disciple other women. 

• Since that time, NOWI has grown to become an organization that stretches across an entire province with over 100 members in 10 different groups.  NOWI women are reaching their husbands, their children and their communities for God as they realize who they are in Christ.
